The Future of IAGTM
By Michael McGrath
The first IAGTM issue was published in the fall of 2001. Since that time, there have been 118 issues published, and they all appear in the Archives on our web site. Many subjects have been covered, and several authors have contributed their thoughts - - Ross Lasley, Amy Lasley, Josiah Cole, Jared Daubert, Desiree Cole, me. Some columns have generated some pretty heated discussion and debate in feedback, and some have passed below the radar. In all, though, there's some pretty good content represented in the collective library, and lots of useful information has been passed along to our readers. We've all enjoyed the research and the writing that went with each issue.
Later in the fall, though, we'll be publishing IAGTM's final issue. However, we will not be stopping our writing. Rather, our research and writing efforts will be devoted to the KISS Blog appearing on our web site. As we announced in our last IAGTM, we've finally gotten around to giving ourselves a new web site, a new look, construction that incorporates many of the new building tools available in our industry today. One of several integral parts of the new site is our blog, and posts to it appear in various spots on the site besides the Blog page itself. You'll notice, for instance, that there are three spots on the home page that are updated every time a new blog post is made. (How many times have we recommended that home page copy should be refreshed and updated on a regular basis? - we finally decided to follow our own advice)
We're going to continue writing to our blog, and our intention is to do so every two weeks. We're all going to be taking turns writing, offering our opinions on web site construction and marketing, offering helpful tips for those engaged in e-commerce, sharing experiences from our work, announcing new projects and new launches. It's just that we'll be doing so using the Blog vehicle instead of the IAGTM e-newsletter.
Now, one of the interesting things about blogs is that one can subscribe to them. In fact, in the three weeks since the launch of the new KISS site, including the KISS blog, we've had a number of folks subscribe to our blog feed already. If you've found IAGTM to be informative and interesting, or helpful to your own online efforts, I hope you will subscribe to our blog. It's easy and painless. Just go to our KISS Blog and click “Register” in the right side bar, choose a User name and enter your email address. Every time we post a new column, you'll get a notice and a link to it sent. Or, you could sign up for the RSS feed - - real simple syndication - - and add our blog to your Bookmarks.
All of our projects today have some e-commerce element to them, whether it is a shopping cart, a ticket system, an online reservation mechanism, or other business management tools, and our services for them include some form of post-launch work either managing their Internet marketing campaigns or providing search engine optimization services. Our blog postings, then, will continue providing tips and techniques of this work, announcements of advances in these areas of online commerce, and in short all of the subjects IAGTM has addressed in its 119 past issues.
We've two more contemplated IAGTMs, one in September and one in October, and we're scouring the archives for the most appropriate topics to close out with. In the meantime, we'll be publishing to our blog every two weeks, so why not check in and continue down the Internet's virtual path with us.
What's New at KISS Computing
We're putting the finishing touches on a new web site for our accounting firm, Thevenin Lynch Bienvenue, LLC. We expect to launch later this week, just after IAGTM publishing deadline. Richard Bienvenue, CPA, is KISS's accountant and tax advisor, and is a valuable resource and member of our extended team. He's also a partner with KISS in a recently formed entity, Business Team Solutions, LLC, a company formed to manage Team Solution Software, and to engage, generally, in business consulting for both offline and online process integrity. The new site for Richard's firm will be found at TLBCPA.net.
