Michael McGrathIAGTM 2001-2008
By Michael McGrath

Perhaps you might have noticed there was no It's All Geek to Me newsletter in December; perhaps not. This is the long goodbye issue of IAGTM, and a word of explanation accompanies it.

Our business has changed. That's probably the single simplest explanation, but it's more than that. Yes, KISS has changed, and we are taking on ever more complex and challenging projects. As a consequence, we've beefed up our staff somewhat over the last six months. We've also opened a branch office in Dublin, Ireland, with our sister company, KISS Computing Ireland Ltd., which was duly registered on 5 February 2007.

We've entered into partnerships with other entrepreneurs in 2007 for the development of custom software-as-services ventures for the small/medium business market and the municipal market. In fact, we have a booth at a municipal association trade show for the promotion of one such venture this month. More are planned. We anticipate this will be the major thrust of business development in 2008, a re-write of the KISS Business Plan, as we begin doing for ourselves what we have helped so many entrepreneurs do for themselves over the past 10 years.

To say the Internet has changed dramatically over those ten years is an understatement almost impossible to define. If a generation in technology is 18 months, then those ten years represent more than six of them. In other words, what it was when KISS began is the great-great-great grandfather of today's iteration. Pretty amazing.

It's been both fun and not a little fatiguing to keep up with that breakneck pace, and we continue to enjoy the ride. There are 121 back issues of IAGTM in our archives, and they will remain available and online in our Archive. I was skimming through some of those past issues recently . . . . there's some pretty good stuff both for history buffs as well as helpful stuff for current e-commerce entrepreneurs. Ross, Amy, Josiah, Jared and Michael - - the various contributors in that list of writers.

Today, KISS's writing is in the form of blog postings, both on our site and off. You'll see a goodly number of SEO articles I've written, as well as KISS news and launch announcements on our Blog today. This is where the writing energy will continue. Many of our IAGTM subscribers have become KISS Blog subscribers, and I thank you for your interest in staying with us.

Building a newsletter subscription list requires a great deal of work. We're not afraid of hard work, mind you - - we've just decided that with our limited writing time each month, our energy will go into the blog. It's fed via RSS aggregators to other sites and appears on those sites immediately upon posting - - thus, it has a larger presence online at a faster pace. It has the greater potential to be seen by more readers more quickly. It also contributes to the refreshing of our home page, one of many SEO practices we recommend to our clients.

We still advocate e-newsletters as the best viral marketing tool available for the e-commerce entrepreneurs, and recommend Constant Contact as the best service bureau in the business. For us at KISS, it simply has become a decision on how best and where to invest limited time and energy as our business evolves into the new year.

To all of our subscribers who have been with us over the years, we say a heart-felt thank you. We hope we have helped take some of the mystery out of the web for you, made complex things seem far less complicated for you, simplified this "interwebs" thing for you. We hope you will join as blog subscribers and continue on the journey with us. Whatever your decision, we wish you well and good fortune. We'll still be at KISS Computing if you think we can help.
